O B I T UA RY JOSEPH ALBERT HOLLANDER After joining the family business set up by his grandfather, Joseph Albert Hollander was instrumental in ushering Hollander International Moving & Storage Company into a new and successful era J JOSEPH ALBERT HOLLANDER oseph Albert Hollander, previously of Hollander Storage & Moving, has died at the age of 98 in Glenview, Illinois, with his sons Jon and David by his side. He was born on August 21, 1921 in Chicago, to Joseph A Hollander and Ruth Hollander. Joseph attended Funston grade school, Lane Technical High School, Northwestern University and Northwesterns Kellogg School of Management. He proudly served in the US Navy and held the rank of lieutenant from 1941 to 1945. Joseph entered the family business of Hollander Storage & Moving, which had been started by his grandfather in 1888. The Hollander family had begun offering storage services on the north side of Chicago before moving into transportation as well. Along with his brother, Joseph ushered the company into a new era of trucking and warehousing, staying true to the companys long-standing pledge to serve its clients with thoughtful, courteous and trustworthy service. The Hollander business grew in stature and celebrated its 130th anniversary in November 2018. It has won awards as an agent of United Van Lines, providing residential moving, business relocation, storage and other services. Joseph married Shirlee Jasper in 1948, and they had a daughter and two sons. The couple enjoyed travelling and cycling together and spending time with their family. Joesph is survived by his sons, Jon and David; six grandchildren; brother Richard Hollander; sister Mary Winter; and many nieces and nephews.
